A5/8 - Strategic Plans, Programs & Requirements Directorate

Responsible for strategic planning, establishing requirements and programming advocacy for the nation’s B-1, B-2, and B-52 bombers; MH-139 and UH-1N helicopters; the E-4B National Airborne Operations Center Aircraft; and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications systems. AFGSC A5/8 is also responsible for funding and requirements for the modernization and recapitalization of strategic nuclear forces to include the B-21 Raider and Sentinel missile, with a total annual budget exceeding $201 billion.

A9 - Studies, Analyses, Assessments & Lessons Learned Directorate

Assists the Commander of Air Force Global Strike Command and other command directorates in accomplishing timely analyses and assessments, and collecting lessons learned to support AFGSC’s decision makers and leaders regarding application and effects of the Air Force Nuclear Enterprise. Additionally, A9 serves as the command lead for facilitating innovation and best practices across AFGSC’s field units

A10 - Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Modernization Directorate

Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the United States Air Force in support of the deployment of the LGM-35A Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) weapon system and the retirement of the LGM-30G Minuteman III ICBM weapon system. The Sentinel weapon system, formerly known as the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD), is the most cost-effective option for maintaining a safe, secure, and effective land-based leg of the nuclear triad and would extend its capabilities through 2075.
