The B-2’s manufacturer, Northrop Grumman, hosted an event to mark the B-2’s 30th anniversary of its first flight at Plant 42 in Palmdale, Calif., Aug. 20. Hundreds of employees, local leaders and military guests were on hand, which included Maj. Gen. James Dawkins, 8th Air Force and Joint-Global Strike Operations Center commander.
In case of national emergency or destruction of ground command and control centers, the E-4B provides a highly survivable command, control and communications center to direct U.S. forces, execute emergency war orders and coordinate actions by civil authorities.
