The Department of the Air Force (DAF) is committed to keeping the public informed of progress on the development of the Sentinel Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement and implementation of the Sentinel Deployment Program. However, the DAF has determined additional time, and effort is required before proceeding with the following Sentinel Town Hall and Public Scoping Meetings.

The following meetings have been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date:

20 Aug 2025, Malmstrom AFB, Conrad, MT
28 Aug 25, F.E. Warren AFB, Kimball, NE

The Sentinel Town Hall Meeting scheduled for 26 Aug 2025, Minot AFB, Minot, ND will take place as scheduled: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. CDT, Minot State University, Ann Nicole Nelson Hall, 500 University Avenue West, Minot, ND 58707.

The DAF understands the value of public engagement on the DAF’s Sentinel weapon system’s replacement of the Minuteman III (MMIII) weapon system at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming; Malmstrom AFB, Montana; and Minot AFB, North Dakota, and throughout their missile fields, and is committed to obtaining public comments about this project.

Please stay tuned to this website and local media publications and news outlets for future public comment opportunities.

Overview

Welcome to the Air Force's Sentinel Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Under the National Environmental Policy Act, the Air Force is required to conduct environmental analyses for any major federal action that is proposed to occur, to determine the environmental impact from the proposed activities, and provide the public and other stakeholders an opportunity to comment on the action and associated analyses, and to consider all reasonable alternatives. The Sentinel project constitutes a major federal action, and thus an EIS must be developed. The Air Force is considering all reasonable alternatives for fulfilling the purpose and need for the action.

In the summer of 2025, the Air Force began preparing a supplemental EIS that addresses design refinements and facility siting updates that have occurred since completion of the March 2023 EIS.

The supplemental EIS addresses design refinements and facility siting updates that have occurred since completion of the March 2023 Environmental Impact Statement for the Sentinel Deployment and Minuteman III (MMIII) Decommissioning and Disposal (2023 Sentinel EIS) and the Record of Decision (ROD). Deployment-related activities would occur in the missile fields and on-base at F.E. Warren Air Force Base (AFB) in Wyoming, Malmstrom AFB in Montana, Minot AFB in North Dakota, and associated support locations.
