2nd SFS Airman awarded Kaleth O. Wright Excellence in Leadership Scholarship

An Airman from the 2nd Security Forces Squadron was selected as the first ever recipient of the Kaleth O. Wright Excellence in Leadership Scholarship, an honor given on behalf of the Air Force Sergeants Association in conjunction with Waldorf University, Forest City, Iowa. According to Headquarters AFSA, “the Excellence in Leadership scholarship is presented to an individual who demonstrates leadership qualities in their current performance of duty. The individual shows great potential for increased leadership roles. In addition, the individual is dedicated to continuous improvements of themselves, others and the community.” Senior Airman Asia Gray, 2nd SFS counter unmanned aircraft systems NCO in-charge, was exactly the person they were looking for.

Barksdale’s own wins 2020 Notary of the Year

One of Barksdale’s own has been nationally recognized through his embodiment of service before self by winning the 2020 Notary of the Year award. Mr. Alan A. Warren, 2nd Bomb Wing legal office automation assistant, was chosen for this award by the National Notary Association (NNA) who presents this honor to “an outstanding Notary Public who demonstrates a level of professionalism and ethical conduct that sets a high standard for other Notaries to emulate.”

Contracting Airman develops program, joins Kessel Run

In today’s war fighting efforts, innovation is a key component when it boils down to who comes out on top. That is why ground-breaking and out-of-the-box thinking is promoted and needed from all levels of personnel. Airman 1st Class Maxwell Lehmann, 2nd Contracting Squadron specialist, has been a proven example of utilizing his personal innovative mindset to help improve processes, and programs. He recently developed a multifaceted accountability program, AmnManager, which is currently being beta-tested at the 344th Training Squadron, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

One moment he’s looking over a design for a tattoo, the next he’s saving someone’s life. Second Lt. Adam Sacchetti, 2nd Security Forces Supply and Logistics officer in charge, removed a 17-year-old from a smoking car following an accident in San Antonio on April 6, 2018.

Airman Goes Above and Beyond

An Airman assigned to the 2nd Operational Support Squadron helped rescue victims during Hurricane Harvey. Senior Airman Bradley Matheney, 2nd OSS air field systems craftsman, is certified in search and rescue and is a part of the Louisiana State Search and Rescue team. Matheney took eight days personal leave to travel Galveston, Cleveland, and Beaumont, Tx. which were impacted by Hurricane Harvey. He traveled to the location with Louisiana State Search and rescue. However, he was often alone with the local fire department aiding in water rescue.
