373rd TRS Det. 2 missile maintenance training

Airman 1st Class Darby Perry, a missile maintenance Airman going through initial qualification training at the 373rd Training Squadron Detachment 21, performs a launch tube heater control functional check at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, Feb. 26, 2018. The launch tube heater ensures a motor doesn't burn up, which could cause equipment failure in a missile launch facility. Detachment 21, which was stood up by the 982nd Training Group at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, has been providing formal training since the beginning of 2017 after Air Education and Training Command and Air Force Global Strike command determined that was the best platform to prepare Airmen for work in the field. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter provides remarks during the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) change of command ceremony at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., Nov. 3, 2016. Carter, who presided over the change of command, congratulated Gen. John E. Hyten on his appointment as the new USSTRATCOM commander. He also thanked Adm. Cecil D.
