AFGSC history office unveils new facility
Strategic Air Command’s standard lies folded in the new Global Strike Research Facility, which is the new home of Air Force Global Strike Command’s Office of the Command Historian. The dates 1946-1992 mark the activation and deactivation dates of this command. During its term of service, SAC stood ready as the primary source of strategic deterrence for the nation, according to Command Historian Yancy Mailes (Air Force Photo by Joe K. Thomas, Air Force Global Strike Command Public Affairs).
