A French Air Force Mirage 2000 holds station off the wing of a U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress in the skies over Northern France, March 1, 2016. The B-52 participated in an ad hoc friendly intercept during its flight to Norway for NATO exercise Cold Response 16. Friendly intercepts like these are often used as a training opportunity for both parties, and improve the coordination between military units. (U.S. Air Force courtesy photo/)
