Stokes Litter
A “stokes litter” carrying an accident victim is hoisted up to a UH-1N Huey helicopter from the 40th Helicopter Squadron. Once the patient is on board the aircraft, a flight surgeon or flight nurse can perform a life-saving role while en route to a local hospital or care facility for treatment. At Malmstrom, flight surgeons and flight nurses are required to accomplish one day and one night hoist per calendar year for training. (U.S. Air Force photo/Capt. David Oettel)
