Striker Trident

U.S. Navy Lt. Randall Hangartner (left), a nuclear engineer-qualified submarine officer, discusses his experience in the Striker Trident exchange program with U.S. Navy Adm. Cecil D. Haney, U.S. Strategic Command commander, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., April 28, 2015. The two discussed how working with units from a different leg of the nuclear triad helps to strengthen the nation's defense by providing nuclear officers a wider scope of the strategic deterrence enterprise. Striker Trident is a joint exchange program which promotes an expanded view of the nuclear enterprise by allowing Air Force nuclear missile officers to temporarily serve with ballistic missile submarines and Navy nuclear missile officers to serve with land-based missile units.
