B-52s Demonstrate Strategic Reach

A 96th Bomb Squadron B-52H aircrew poses for a photo at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., following a 44-hour nonstop sortie July 2, 2015. Two B-52H Stratofortress bombers and aircrews from the 96 BS flew a round-trip mission from Barksdale to Australia, demonstrating the United States’ ability to project a flexible, long-range global strike capability. During the mission, aircrews integrated with Royal Australian Air Force ground forces in the region, conducted an inert conventional weapons exercise on the Delamere Air Weapons Range, and performed a low approach at RAAF Base Tindal. U.S. Strategic Command, through its global strike assets, regularly conducts training with and in support of the geographic combatant commands to help maintain global stability and security, while enabling units to become familiar with operating in different regions of the world.
