5th CES captain awarded Purple Heart
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Capt. Erik Rauglas, 5th Civil Engineer Squadron readiness and emergency management officer, receives a Purple Heart from Col. Douglas Cox, 5th Bomb Wing commander, at the base theater here May 26. Capt. Rauglas was injured while deployed to Afghanistan as commander of Provinical Reconstruction Team Nangarhar’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control mission. On Jan. 6, 2010, Captain Rauglas was on a dismounted patrol performing a construction inspection an ongoing road project. While on the patrol a tank mine exploded.
