17 Sept 10 Test Launch
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Air Force Global Strike Command crews launched an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from north Vandenberg Sept. 17. The operational test launch demonstrates the weapon system's reliability and accuracy. The missile's single unarmed re-entry vehicle traveled approximately 5,300 miles, to a pre-determined target in the Pacific Ocean about 200 miles southwest of Guam. (U.S. Air Force photo/Joe Davila)
