Barksdale warrior brings Southern cooking to Afghanistan
PANJSHIR PROVINCE, Afghanistan -- Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Louk, a native of Petal Miss., deployed from Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Provincial Reconstruction Team Panjshir engineering superintendent of construction and development, tosses the main gumbo ingredients in a mixture of 15 different spices and seasonings prior to adding them to the pot. A few on the gumbo ingredients were shrimp, lobster, crab meat, chicken and okra. The okra was purchased in a local market in Panjshir, Afghanistan. (U.S. Air force photo by Tech. Sgt.
