Barksdale events honor Bataan Death March survivors
Bataan Death March survivor Master Sgt. James Haynes, U.S. Army Air Force, bows his head during the invocation at the 70th Anniversary luncheon held on Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Sept. 4 in honor of the time Haynes and four other veterans spent as prisoners of war during World War II. This day was significant because it also marked the 67th Anniversary of over 2,000 Japanese soldiers surrendering on Wake Island two days after the formal surrender of Japan.
