Warren Wranglers eagerly await final scores for 2nd Annual Global Strike Challenge Published Oct. 26, 2011 By Staff Sgt. Mike Tryon 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F. E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- The 2nd Annual Global Strike Challenge competition is nearly complete; all that waits is the security forces portion of the competition and the final score posting, which is to be held at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Air Force Global Strike Command headquarters. Global Strike Challenge is a series of events pitting missile and bomber wings units assigned to AFGSC in competition with each other. The Blanchard Trophy is the prize for the best ICBM wing -- the title currently held by the Mighty Ninety. The Blanchard Trophy is not the only accolade Warren's Wranglers took from last year's competition. Also won were the Blackburn Trophy, awarded to the best ICBM maintenance team; Best Electrical-Mechanical Team, awarded to the best electrical-mechanical maintenance team; and Best ICBM Operations Trophy, which is awarded to the best ICBM operators. While the helicopter, maintenance and operations teams have already competed, Warren's defenders are scheduled to compete in early November. Their scores, along with those from the helicopter, maintenance and operations teams will be revealed during the score-posting ceremony following the security forces competition. "The members of the Mighty Ninety have thoroughly prepared for any situation they may encounter during this competition," said Col. Christopher Coffelt, 90th Missile Wing commander. "I have faith that they have and will continue to perform at the peak of their abilities during the competition as they do every day here at the 90th Missile Wing in providing nuclear deterrence for our nation."
