F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Maj. Gen. Anthony Cotton, 20th Air Force and Task Force 214 commander, held his fall Senior Leadership Conference here, Sept. 18-21.
Twentieth AF wing commanders, group commanders and wing command chiefs gathered to discuss the ICBM mission. They shared knowledge to improve their execution of the mission and discussed ways to help their Airmen succeed.
“I want Airmen to know that the concerns they voice to their leadership does not fall on deaf ears,” said Chief Master Sgt. Chad Schulte, 377th Air Base Wing command chief. “These issues are known at the highest level of the Air Force.”
Cotton explained that this conference was essential to growing the ICBM mission and developing the Airmen carrying out that mission.
"Bringing 20th AF leaders together is essential to ensure our goals, priorities and strategies are continually improving," Cotton said. "We are committed to establishing an enduring culture of excellence and discussing feedback from our warfighters, who execute the mission every day."
The Honorable James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence, served as the senior mentor to the wing commanders and command chiefs in attendance and shared his insights on the nuclear enterprise from a cabinet member’s perspective.
“The most rewarding part was Gen. Clapper’s brief,” Schulte said. “That’s over five decades of experience, both Air Force related and as a national security leader.”
The four-day conference included an orientation at the 620th Ground Combat Training Squadron, Camp Guernsey, Wyo. After the brief, leaders gathered at the firing range to test various weapons operated by security forces Airmen.
The conference has ended, but the leaders expressed their desire to continually improve their wings at all levels.
“Coming together in the SLC allowed us to understand the issues that are affecting our Airmen across 20th AF and help break down barriers to help them be more effective and efficient,” said Col. Ronald Allen, 341st Missile Wing commander. “We were able to share ideas to make daily life better at all four of the wings.”
