Minuteman III test launch scheduled

Air Force Global Strike Command is scheduled to conduct a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile operational test launch Sept. 23.

The unarmed missile is scheduled to launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, between 3:45 and 9:45 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time and travel approximately 4,200 miles to the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

The launch team, under the direction of AFGSC's 576th Flight Test Squadron, Vandenberg AFB, also includes Airmen from the 91st Missile Wing at Minot AFB, North Dakota.

The information obtained from these test launches provides continued surety of the safety, security and reliability of the ICBM inventory.
