2015 Strategic narrative defines ICBM force, call-to-action toward culture change Published Jan. 16, 2015 By Capt. Eydie Sakura 90th Missile Wing Public Affairs F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Maj. Gen. Jack Weinstein, commander of Task Force 214 and 20th Air Force, released the 2015 Strategic Narrative for the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile force Jan. 5. The narrative defines who we are and who we will be as an ICBM force in 2015 and beyond, the general said. "We faced foundational challenges last year, but our Airmen rose to the occasion--I'm proud of them for tackling problems head-on and proposing innovative ways to develop the ICBM mission," he said. "Rebuilding a culture is an ongoing process, not a single event, and the narrative is a call-to-action for continually improving our mission." The strategic narrative is the primary means by which the TF-214/20th AF commander communicates his strategic vision, mission statements and priorities to the command to support the president and the combatant commanders. The ICBM force priorities include: · Commitment to our warrior ethos · Coach, train and mentor ICBM professionals and leaders · Care for Airmen and families · Safe, secure and effective daily operations Weinstein charged all Airmen in the command to read and apply the narrative in their duties each day. Col. Tracey Hayes, 90th Missile Wing commander, and her fellow wing commanders at the 91st and 341st Missile Wings, are already working to transform the narrative into action. "This strategic narrative is a roadmap for helping us show Airmen that this mission matters by empowering them and ensuring they have the necessary training and resources to effectively perform their job," she said. With support from the Secretary of the Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Air Force and commander of Air Force Global Strike Command, more than $160 million was allocated in fiscal year 2014 for improvements across the three missile wings at Malmstrom, Minot and F.E. Warren Air Force Bases. "I'm extremely proud to be a part of Task Force 214 and 20th Air Force," Weinstein said. "The value the Department of Defense places on the mission is huge. The support, funding and manning we are receiving, coupled with our efforts to reshape the ICBM culture, will improve our ability to execute the Department's number one priority and take care of our number one asset--our people."
