The Honorable Dr. Jamie M. Morin, the Air Force's top financial authority, visited Air Force Global Strike Command here Aug. 24-25, saying people are the priority, and Global Strike Command's success is "at the heart and soul" of his mission.

"The biggest challenges the Air Force faces are less about managing the $160 billion dollar budget and more about the 680,000 people," Dr. Morin said. "The most important financial priorities are taking care of our Airmen--active duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian--and making sure that we're aligning all of our resources, whether they're human resources or financial resources, to the top needs."

Dr. Morin said, from a resources and financial perspective, Global Strike Command is the key component to fulfilling the Secretary of the Air Force's goal of recapturing excellence in the nuclear business.

Because of this importance, Global Strike Command is something Dr. Morin said he is deeply invested in. 'Continuing to strengthen the nuclear enterprise' being a top priority for the Air Force has had "a very real effect" on Air Force funding and resourcing, Dr. Morin said.

Dr. Morin said he is very proud of how nimble the AF leadership has been in realigning resources to bolster the nuclear enterprise by creating Global Strike Command.

While at Air Force Global Strike Command, Dr. Morin, the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller, also met with Airmen from the AFGSC financial management directorate. He also toured a B-52 static display and 8th Air Force, was briefed by Command experts on the Command and the new START treaty. He also hosted an all-call with the FM directorate and financial managers from the 2d Comptroller Squadron.

Dr. Morin also spoke at a luncheon for the Ark-La-Tex chapter of the American Society of Military Comptrollers and inducted the chapter's new officers, including Colonel Blume, AFGSC Director of Financial Management, as the organization's new president.
