The 509th Force Support Squadron Community Activities Center and Veterinary Clinic hosted the 4th annual Whiteman Bark in the Park dog show Oct. 2.

The event included more than 50 participants of all breeds, sizes and colors to compete in 14 categories and 4 events.

Members of Team Whiteman arrived with their dogs primped and prepped for contests such as smallest dog, largest dog, best costume and cutest dog.

The Bark in the Park is an event intended to meet the Air Force Global Strike Command values for Airmen moral and welfare.

"Bark in the Park is always a favorite event for participants and volunteers," said Connie Koch, Whiteman CAC director. "There's always something new to see each year with military members coming and going. It also provides family members an opportunity to meet new people and schedule play dates for their pets."

Bark in the Park began with an hour of social time for both owners and pets, also allowing for participants to register their dogs for the event.

The United Servicemembers Organization was also in attendance providing hot dogs and gifts for adults and children. The USO also gave away a pet carrier as a door prize.

"This was a great experience," said Tech. Sgt. Erin Connolly, 509th Medical Operations Squadron and owner of two dogs, Sam and Bear. Bear won most original trick. "This was our first year participating and I think my son enjoyed it more than our dogs did."
