Airman 1st Class Katherine Althoff, 509th Communications Squadron base content manager, was recognized in January for her on and off-duty accomplishments when she was awarded with the Chief's Choice Award.

The monthly award, selected by the Whiteman Chief's Group, recognizes E-5s and below who exemplify service before self and dedication to the mission.

"We wanted to recognize Airmen for outstanding service to their fellow wingmen and the local community," said Chief Master Sgt. Steven Gardner, Whiteman Chief's Group president.

Airman Althoff, an Air Force Global Strike Command member, was proud to receive the award.

"It was a team effort," Airman Althoff said. "I get a lot of help from people in my office. I'd like to thank all those involved and I'm very thankful for being recognized."

Airman Althoff stepped up to manage Knowledge Operations Support for Crisis Action Team when the NCO in charge deployed. She authored an interactive SharePoint site which streamlined user access and created a one-stop location for training and information on base-level publications, forms and visual aids.

She also coordinated the base-wide AFGSC SharePoint user training, which established front-line support and trained 67 Airmen, increasing efficiency by 40 percent. She restructured the Chief's Group web page, creating a photo site for current officers, a document library, and data sharing, ensuring the Chief's Group legacy.

"Airman Althoff is the backbone for the 509th Bomb Wing's SharePoint support, and that is no exaggeration," Chief Gardner concluded. "For these and other outstanding achievements, Airman Althoff was selected for the Whiteman Chief's Group Chief Choice Award."

In addition to a certificate of recognition, each winner receives a 25-dollar gift card, a meal card and a theater pass.
