Global Strike Command announces Outstanding Airmen of the Year Published March 26, 2011 By Crystal Jordan Air Force Global Strike Command Public Affairs BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Air Force Global Strike Command named its Outstanding Airmen of the Year at a banquet here March 24 during the annual Global Strike Command Commander's Conference. "This is an opportunity to recognize the caliber of Airmen serving throughout the command," said Chief Master Sgt. Brian Hornback, recently-appointed Command Chief Master Sergeant for Global Strike Command. "These Airmen are professionals with an outstanding commitment and dedication to the mission." Chief Hornback said the four Airmen moving on as nominees for the Air Force 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year "represent the command and provide us with a glimpse of the Air Force's next generation of leaders." The Honorees Senior Airman Toby Harter, a cable affairs officer assigned to the 90th Missile Wing at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., is the Air Force Global Strike Command Outstanding Airman of the Year. Airman Harter is a member of F.E. Warren's base honor guard and the 90th Maintenance Group's Booster Club. Tech. Sgt. Bradley Williams, a vehicle operator and dispatcher currently assigned as the acting first sergeant for the 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., is the Air Force Global Strike Command Outstanding Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. Among Sergeant Williams' military awards are the Bronze Star, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster and Air Force Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster. Master Sgt. Tyler Terrel, a missile and space systems maintainer assigned to the 90th Missile Wing at F. E. Warren, is the Air Force Global Strike Command Outstanding Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. Sergeant Terrel authored 65 pages of technical data to complete the deactivation of 50 intercontinental ballistic missile sites and five missile alert facilities during the inactivation of the 564th Missile Squadron at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. Master Sgt. Stephen Hart, a first sergeant assigned to the 90th Civil Engineer Squadron at F.E. Warren, is the Outstanding First Sergeant of the Year. Sergeant Hart partnered with Family Readiness and the United States Army Soldier program to identify health and welfare concerns for Airmen and soldiers. He also orchestrated a fitness regimen for more than 150 Airmen, raising the unit's passing rate from 78 percent to 98 percent. Nominees from 20th Air Force, 8th Air Force and Headquarters Air Force Global Strike Command competed to be named Outstanding Airmen of the Year in each of the four categories. Board scores were tallied along with the scores from each Airman's nomination packages. The Air Force 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2011 will be announced later this year.
