Global Strike Command director receives Republic of Korea national award

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. --  Col. Bradley Hayworth, Director of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance at Air Force Global Strike Command, received a national award from the Republic of Korea Sept. 13.

Hayworth earned the Order of National Security Merit, also known as the Samil Medal, for his work with senior leaders while serving as the director of plans and exercises division in Korea.

"This is truly an honor," Hayworth said. "My Korean counterparts are strong and solid allies in deterring North Korea and defending South Korea."

Lt. Gen. Yoon Hak Soo, director of Korea Defense Intelligence Agency, and a former colleague of Colonel Hayworth, presented the award during the ceremony at the Republic of Korea Embassy in Washington, D.C.

The Samil Medal is awarded for distinguished service to the national security of the Republic of Korea.
