Global Strike commander offers condolences to families of fallen Published Jan. 7, 2012 BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- To the men and women of Air Force Global Strike Command, We are saddened by the recent loss of two of our Air Force Global Strike Command Airmen. On January 5, Technical Sergeant Matthew Schwartz, 90th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., and Senior Airman Bryan Bell, 2d Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Barksdale Air Force Base, La., were killed in action in Afghanistan. The entire command joins Julie and I in sending our deepest sympathies and understanding to the families, friends and colleagues of these Airmen. The service of TSgt Schwartz and SrA Bell is especially notable, as they were deployed as Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians during a time of war. We're grateful for their selfless service and sacrifice. This loss reminds us our Nation remains at war, and our Airmen continue to bravely serve in combat. //SIGNED// JAMES M.
