Global Strike Command honors Outstanding Airmen of the Year

Air Force Global Strike Command honored six Airmen from throughout the command at its Outstanding Airmen of the Year banquet here April 5 during the annual Global Strike Command Commander's Conference.

Air Force Global Strike Command winners are:

Senior Airman Bryenna L. Brooks, an aerospace medical services technician assigned to the 2d Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., is the Air Force Global Strike Command Outstanding Airman of the Year. Brooks has volunteered her time both locally in organizations such as the Special Olympics, as well as in her deployed location educating more than 250 Afghans on sanitation and hygiene efforts.

Staff Sgt. Andrea L. Scheving, an air traffic controller assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., is the Air Force Global Strike Command Outstanding Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. Scheving has been hand-selected as the NCOIC of Air Traffic Control Training at Whiteman. Her decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters.

Master Sgt. Keith Lockard, a heavy repair superintendent assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., is the Air Force Global Strike Command Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. In addition to his volunteer efforts on base, Lock helped organize Habitat for Humanity in Joplin, Mo., where his team helped build 10 new dwellings for families that lost their homes to a destructive EF-5 tornado.

Master Sgt. Shane C. Matt, a first sergeant assigned to the Twentieth Air Force, 341st Missile Wing, 341st Maintenance Group and the 341st Maintenance Operations Squadron at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., is the Outstanding First Sergeant of the Year. Matt has held the positions of electrical and environmental craftsman, electrical and environmental lead technician, flight line expeditor and assistant first sergeant throughout his Air Force career. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Senior Airman Christopher J. Pentecostes, an aircrew egress system journeyman assigned to the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., is the Air Force Global Strike Command Outstanding Honor Guard Member of the Year. Pentecostes was promoted to senior airman below-the-zone and serves as a trainer for prospective Honor Guard members.

Tech. Sgt. Thomas W. Chase, base honor guard program manager assigned to the 341st Missile Wing at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., is the Air Force Global Strike Command Outstanding Honor Guard Manager of the Year. Prior to managing the base Honor Guard, Chase was assigned to the 341st Security Forces Squadron where his role as assistant flight chief was vital to priority level one assets and leading a 45-member flight in one of the Air Force's largest flight area of operations.

These Airmen will now compete at the Air Force level for the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year.
