Air Force returns to previous travel card program Published April 25, 2012 By Kate Blais Air Force Global Strike Command Public Affairs BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Air Force Global Strike Command will follow Air Force guidance and transition from the Controlled Spend Account back to the Government Travel Card, with transition slated for an August to September 2012 timeframe. Current cardholders are not required to request a new card and can continue using their blue CSA cards without interruption while CitiBank converts the card back to a GTC. "The conversion from the CSA to the GTC will prove beneficial for the traveler," said Col. Robert Blue, AFGSC Financial Management and Comptroller director. "Many of the frustrations current CSA holders experience are caused by an insufficient credit limit, leading to the card declining, which the transition will alleviate." Travelers will once again be provided with a permanent credit limit, one that is not tied to approved travel orders in the Defense Travel System and will instead be determined by the traveler's credit score. According to Blue, the set credit limit will be $4,000 for a restricted account - issued to individuals who don't consent to a credit check, have a FICO score of 500 to 659, no credit history, or as directed by the member's commander or supervisor - or $7,500 for a standard account for individuals with a FICO score of 660 or more. "The GTC, with its constant credit limit, allows greater flexibility for last minute travel orders and eliminates the need for temporary spend limit increases," said Blue. Members will once again have the option to split-disburse any residual funds to his or her personal account, eliminating the requirement to contact CitiBank to request any residual balance.
