"Whatcha doing this summer?" is the question command officials are asking Airmen, as it kicks off its first-ever "Do Something Amazing Outdoors Challenge," here June 20.

Archery and kayaking are some of the planned local activities, with special guests in attendance to include motocross gold medalist, Mike Schultz.

"We want Airmen to participate in recreational activities and have fun, but to do so in a positive and constructive way which strengthens and motivates," said Chief Master Sgt. Brian S. Hornback, Air Force Global Strike Command command chief.

This is the next step in our "Never Quit" series focused on building resiliency in Airmen.

"This challenge encourages Airmen to get out and do something this summer instead of passing time between work shifts isolated in their dorm rooms," said Lt. Col. Casey Sanders, AFGSC Personnel Directorate, Force Development Division chief. "Becoming involved in any healthy activity promotes resiliency through interaction and camaraderie."

In addition, to encouraging Airmen to get outdoors and get involved, the command wants to hear about those activities, via Facebook, by clicking here.

The challenge runs through summer, concluding Sept.22. The top three most compelling stories - produced using one or any combination of photos, videos and written essays - will win an all-expense paid trip, courtesy of American300, to Southern California to watch Baja 1000 riders, drivers and mechanics prepare for the 2012 Baja 1000; an off-road race showcasing various types of vehicles including motorcycles, buggies and trucks.
