Military Personnel Data System Upgrade Published March 11, 2013 By Col. Arch Bruns Director, Manpower, Personnel and Services Directorate, Air Force Global Strike Command BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Air Force officials began executing a much-needed upgrade to the Military Personnel Data System last week. MilPDS is the primary record for all military personnel data. The upgrade required taking MilPDS off-line for approximately 23 days, through approximately March 27, during which period all personnel actions will be on hold. The Air Force Personnel Center and the local servicing military personnel sections worked diligently to front load as much transactional work as possible supporting reenlistments, enlistment extensions, promotions, unit transfers, discharges and retirements. This should ensure that personnel actions associated with military pay and benefits eligibility are minimally affected. The upgrade does not affect the Personnel Records Display Application, where members view their personnel records. However, military members should maintain a current copy of your personnel records in a personal file. Post-upgrade, AFPC, major commands and bases will closely monitor daily updates of delayed actions to ensure sequential and timely updates. AFPC has done everything possible to minimize the opportunity for negative effects and their efforts should preclude potential pay and benefit affecting issues. However, if you suspect a problem, please identify it immediately to the local MPS customer service.
