AFGSC Airmen win STRATCOM awards

United States Strategic Command recently named four Air Force Global Strike Command Airmen as annual award-winners for their accomplishments in 2012.

"On behalf of General Kehler and myself, congratulations to all the 2012 Annual award nominees and winners alike," said USSTRATCOM Command Sergeant Major Patrick Alston in the award message. "The competition was extremely keen which speaks volumes of the high caliber of the personnel within our Command."

AFGSC winners are:

Senior Airman Ryan Fontaine, 91st Missile Security Forces Group Close Precision Engagement team leader assigned to the Tactical Response Force Section, 91st Missile Wing, Minot Air Force Base, N.D., is the Junior-Tier Enlisted Airman of the Year. Fontaine assisted the Convoy Commander in providing reconnaissance, surveillance and counter sniper defense for all off base nuclear convoy movements protecting 150 launch facilities and 15 missile alert facilities, totaling $3.3 billion in USSTRATCOM assets.

Tech. Sgt. Jessica Chebaro, Strategic Logistics Plans Manager, 608th Strategic Operations Squadron, Eighth Air Force, Barksdale AFB, La., is the Nuclear Task Force Mid-Tier Enlisted Airman of the Year. Chebaro currently manages logistics requirements for the USAF's sole nuclear bomber and reconnaissance Task Force directly supporting USSTRATCOM operations plan. She also plans all strategic and tactical airlift requirements for combat Bomber and Reconnaissance support teams and sustainment forces.

Senior Master Sgt. Rodney Frotz, 341st Generation Flight superintendent, Malmstrom AFB, Mont., is the Senior-Tier Enlisted Airman of the Year. Frotz currently leads 123 Airmen responsible for the immediate launch readiness of 150 Minuteman III ICBMs and 15 Missile Alert Facilities spread across an 18,000-square-mile complex. Additionally, his flight provides deterrence for the United States by replacing limited life components, missiles, reentry systems and guidance sets.

Master Sgt. Kevin Lambert, 214 Security Forces Directorate NCO in-charge of operations, F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo., is the Task Force Missile Security Airman of the Year. Lambert has been selected for duty in the First Sergeant career field, and is only a few classes away from completing his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice through American Military University.
