F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo -- -- Maj. Gen. Michael Lutton, 20th Air Force commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Rodolfo Gamez, 20 AF command chief, visited the 90th Missile Wing, Feb. 13, 2023.
20 AF headquarters may be located on F.E. Warren Air Force Base, but it is a tenant unit that assumes command over four wings, including the 90 MW. Lutton regularly conducts official visits of these wings in order to learn about their day-to-day operations, modernization and construction progress and to meet the Airmen who execute the mission.
Lutton began his tour of the 90 MW with a breakfast at the Warren Lanes bowling alley, where he was able to meet fifteen junior enlisted Airmen from different units on base. Lutton provided the Airmen with his perspective of the wings’ and Numbered Air Force’s mission. He also welcomed the viewpoint of the Airmen and answered their many questions about life and operations.
“I will be in the Air Force 32 years next week, and each of you are the reason I stay in,” said Lutton. “I am humbled to serve beside you.”
The tour also showcased the different layers of the 90 MW. Lutton toured the 90th Medical Group and Defense Health Agency first, meeting Airmen in the dental clinic, mental health clinic, pediatric clinic and the bioenvironmental unit. He also discussed with leadership how he can advocate for the clinic and its patients’ healthcare at higher levels. Lutton and his team also went to the new weapons generation facility to see the construction progress first-hand. The WGF is a part of base modernization efforts that will welcome the new ICBM weapon system, the LGM-35A Sentinel.
“Visiting the 90th Missile Wing was a great opportunity for me to hear what is on our Airmen’s minds, see the incredible work they are doing and learn more about the modernization efforts in progress,” said Lutton.
