Air Force Global Strike Command leaders continue to focus on their number one priority: People.

Chief Master Sgt. Melvina Smith, AFGSC command chief, has introduced a monthly program to foster a community of inclusion across the command.

“Striker Hour” is a once-a-month virtual event hosted by Smith. The event features rotating guest speakers with the goal of offering total force members across the command an easy access opportunity to collaborate on issues that impact them directly. The forum allows Airmen of all ranks and all career specialties to have a voice and delve further into what Striker Culture means to and for them.

Topics have included innovation programs, women’s leadership initiatives and managing stressful situations. The format will continue to evolve based on attendee input.

The command is responsible for two-thirds of America’s nuclear triad: all nuclear-capable bombers and ground-based ICBMs. Smith emphasizes the importance of Airmen input—Airmen who uphold, secure and maintain this mission 24/7/365.

“This is our way of getting after Airmen’s Time,” stated Smith.

“Opportunities such as this create an environment for us to connect, from Airman Basic to Command Chief. Striker Hour allows us the time as a Total Force to come together and share a level of transparency consistently asked for by our Striker Nation. You matter, your voice matters and I value your time and input as we continue to focus on the well-being and development of our great Strikers,” added Smith.

“It is my hope that, from any platform that fits your busy schedule, you can join us on these discussions that will support and empower our greatest weapons system, PEOPLE.”

“Striker Hour” is held monthly, traditionally on the third Tuesday of every month with occasional adjustments due to scheduling and available via Zoom for easy access. For more information, contact your local unit leadership for meeting information.
