MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- U.S. Navy Adm. Charles Richard, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, received a brief from 12th Missile squadron combat crew members during a tour of the missile procedural trainer May 6, 2022, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. During his visit, Richard awarded the 12th MS the Omaha Trophy, as the best intercontinental ballistic missile squadron for 2021. First awarded by Strategic Air Command Consultation Committee in 1971, the Omaha Trophy is presented to units across the command in four official categories: intercontinental ballistic missile squadron, ballistic missile submarine, strategic bomber squadron and global operations squadron.
