U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury visited Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, Nov. 29, 2021.

During her visit, Stansbury toured various locations on the installation and learned about different unit mission capabilities.

Stansbury spoke about the vital relationship of the state and local community with KAFB.

“Kirtland Air Force Base is already a vital part of the fabric of Albuquerque,” said Stansbury. “To be the best neighbor it can be, we must support Kirtland’s efforts to use best practices for the environment, give back to the surrounding community, and recruit Albuquerque residents for the good-paying jobs that keep our base running.”

Stansbury received mission briefs from the 377th Air Base Wing, 58th Special Operations Wing, Air Force Nuclear Weapon Center and the Air Force Research Laboratory. She also toured several aircraft on the flight line.

U.S. Air Force Col. Jason Vattioni, 377th Air Base Wing and installation commander, spoke about her visit.

“Team Kirtland was proud to welcome Congresswoman Stansbury to Kirtland Air Force Base today,” said Vattioni. “Our installation’s many missions, and the women and men that execute them, are interwoven into local, state, and federal service.  The ability to showcase just a few of those missions was our honor and we appreciate the Congresswoman investing her time and visiting with us.”
