Colonel Allen Y. Agnes

Col. Allen Agnes is the Deputy Commander, Eighth Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.  As a Numbered Air Force of Air Force Global Strike Command, Eighth Air Force provides long-range strike and strategic deterrence to combatant commanders worldwide. The “Mighty Eighth" is responsible for the service’s bomber force as well as its airborne nuclear command and control assets, encompassing approximately 24,000 Airmen across six installations, and operating more than 150 E-4, B-1, B-2, B-52, and T-38 aircraft.

Colonel Agnes received his commission from Officer Training School in 2002 and earned his navigator wings in 2003, subsequently qualifying as a B-52H weapon systems officer in 2004. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of operational flying, joint staff, and command assignments, serving as an evaluator radar navigator, Director of Operations for an Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, and Chief of the Commander’s Action Group for Eighth Air Force. A graduate of the School of Advanced Nuclear Deterrence Studies, his strategic expertise includes serving as a joint aircraft strike planner at U.S. Strategic Command, followed by command of the 72d Expeditionary Air Support Operations Squadron in Baghdad, Iraq. Colonel Agnes has also served in multiple leadership roles at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., including Deputy Commander of both the 5th Operations Group and the 5th Mission Support Group, as well as Commander of the 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Deputy Commander of The Air Force Inspection Agency.

Colonel Agnes has air and ground combat experience in Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE and he has deployed multiple times in support of Continuous Bomber Presence at Andersen AFB.
