Chief Master Sergeant SHAWN M. AIELLO

Chief Master Sergeant Shawn M. Aiello is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, Air Force Global Strike Command and Air Forces Strategic-Air, headquartered at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. He is the senior enlisted leader responsible to the commander on matters concerning the welfare of the command’s Airmen. The AFGSC mission is to develop, equip and provide combat-ready forces for nuclear deterrence and global strike operations supporting the initiatives of United States Strategic Command and other geographic combatant commands. AFGSC is comprised of approximately 33,700 professionals operating at two Numbered Air Forces and eleven active duty, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve wings. Assigned weapons systems include Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles. B-1, B-2, and B-52 strategic bombers, UH-1N helicopters, MH-139 helicopters, E-4B National Airborne Operations Center aircraft and the Nuclear Command, Control and Communications infrastructure.

Chief Aiello entered the Air Force in 1992. After completing basic training, he qualified as a Munitions Systems Specialist and received orders to Sembach Air Base, Germany. He served in munitions assignments around the globe until 2002, when he cross-trained into intelligence. As intelligence professional, Chief Aiello has served in Republic of Korea, US Air Forces Europe, Joint Special Operations Command and Air Force Special Operations Command. Additionally, he has served in multiple deployed joint Senior Enlisted Leader roles in Joint Task Forces. Prior to his assuming his current position, Chief Aiello served as Command Chief Master Sergeant of Fifth Air Force Yokota Air Base, Japan, where he was responsible to the commander for the power projection of 15,000 combat-ready personnel across three main operating bases, delivering combat airpower, command and control, personnel recovery, surveillance.
