The Mighty Ninety was recently recognized by Gen. C. Robert Kehler, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, and Tuesday, he presented the wing here with the Omaha Trophy.

The Omaha Trophy has been presented annually since 1971 and is awarded to the USSTRATCOM wing that best demonstrates the highest standards of performance based on meritorious achievements, safety, community involvement and humanitarian actions accomplished throughout the previous year.

Kehler spent most of his two-day visit talking with Warren's defenders, maintainers and operators about their specific pieces of the mission and their contributions to the wing earning the trophy.

"You have demonstrated, over the past year and many times before, an extraordinary commitment to excellence and professionalism," Kehler said. "It is with a great sense of pride and accomplishment that I am able to present this trophy to you."

Kehler presented Col. Tracey Hayes, 90th Missile Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Michael Garrou, 90th MW command chief, the trophy Tuesday during his All Call to the wing held in the Fall Hall Community Center.

The general then followed his Omaha Trophy presentation by talking about the long-term impact of sequestration as well as the continuation of the nuclear triad -- specifically the importance of deterrence and assurance. He then fielded questions ranging from Air Force prioritization, USSTRATCOM's role and key Department of Defense issues such as sexual assaults and harassment, and furloughs.
