ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. – The 28th Bomb Wing has become the leading unit in Air Force Global Strike Command to begin the Air Force Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts.

The DEI efforts were created to put an emphasis on the differences in culture, race, gender, and other aspects that make Airmen unique. The DEI office is responsible for finding the disparities that Airmen feel at all ranks and creating solutions through education, outreach, and accountability.

“We want to develop a culture of inclusion, empowerment, and trust to build a stronger team,” said Master Sgt. Eric Clayborn, 28th Bomb Wing diversity and inclusion program manager, who has lead the DEI effort since it began at Ellsworth in May 2021. “We should all be able to come to work as our true selves, and putting forth effort into DEI will help us be able to share more openly with our teammates.”

The Air Force plans on implementing lasting efforts to improve diversity and inclusion in all environments by continuing to change and improve regulations as well as implementing workplace trainings such as unconscious bias training.

The DEI office has also put together the Raider Diversity group, a team of approximately 25 Airmen from across the installation that come together in order to find areas where change can be made and help educate Airmen at Ellsworth.

“The DEI office will continue to bring positive change across the Air Force by providing a focused effort and resources in education to all of the Ellsworth community,” said Clayborn.
